The U.S. Army is looking into the disappearance of military equipment from Fort Moore, Georgia. They are given a $15,000 reward for information that could help them find the items. There are 31 M17 pistols, two sets of Enhanced Night Vision Goggles (ENVGs), and an AN/PAS-13D Thermal Weapon Sight in the kit.

Police first said the pistols were stolen on May 16, but they think they may have been gone as early as March. The other things went away between August and October. The Crescenz Consolidated Equipment Pool was where all of the equipment was kept. A private contractor named Vectrus was in charge of it.

Since then, Fort Moore officials have tightened security by installing new surveillance systems and limiting who can enter the site. However, no disciplinary actions have been taken against staff.

In civilian markets, the M17 pistols, which have been typical issue sidearms since 2017, cost about $650. The case is even worse because ENVGs and thermal optics are missing. These items are helpful in low-light and battle situations.

This event adds to considerable worries about the military's ability to keep its weapons safe. Systemic flaws were found in past probes, and over the last ten years, thousands of weapons have gone missing.

Fort Moore, where the Army trains soldiers for ground fighting, is still closely watched as the search continues. Officials want anyone with vital information to come forward to hold everyone accountable and safe.
