The Navy Midshipmen, celebrating their first winning season in five years, prepare to face their archrivals, the Army Black Knights, in their 125th meeting on Saturday. The game begins at 3 p.m. ET at Northwest Stadium in Landover, Maryland, and will be aired by CBS.
Navy finished third in the American Athletic Conference with an 8-3 record, trailing only Tulane University and conference champion Army. Despite missing the College Football Playoffs, the Midshipmen hope to reclaim the Commander-in-Chief Trophy and end their three-year losing run versus Army.
Navy's season began with a six-game winning streak, but they struggled offensively in three losses, scoring 14 points or fewer. A victory over the Black Knights, who have an 11-1 record and are ranked first in rushing attack and 11th in defense, would be a significant accomplishment for Navy.
Coming off its first conference championship, the Army comes into the game as the American Athletic Conference winner and a strong opponent.
Following this historic rivalry game, the Navy will meet the 6-6 Oklahoma Sooners in the Armed Forces Bowl on December 27, ending a season entirely of redemption and difficulties.
