The potential path to the presidency for Vice President Kamala Harris has been narrowed due to former President Donald Trump's projected victories in North Carolina and Georgia and his leads in other contested states as the results continue to stream in from key battlegrounds. This has made Pennsylvania a critical win. John King of CNN emphasized the significance of Pennsylvania on Wednesday morning, stating that, although Harris could theoretically secure a victory with victories in Wisconsin, Michigan, and certain regions of the Sun Belt, such as Nevada and Arizona, Pennsylvania remains indispensable.
“There are still numerous votes to be counted, but one thing is certain: Harris cannot afford to lose Pennsylvania,” King underscored.
Trump maintains a tenuous advantage of over three points, with 93% of Pennsylvania's votes counted. King acknowledged the challenge, stating, "It's improbable at the moment, let's be honest, but it's not impossible." However, Harris could still gain ground in Philadelphia, where the remaining votes are mainly Democratic.
At approximately 1:00 a.m., Philadelphia County reported that 78% of the votes had been tallied, with 78.1% in Harris' favor and 20.7% in Trump's favor. According to King, the path for Harris is further complicated by Trump's improvement from 2020 margins across red counties, which generally increased by three points.
