Blake Horvath stole the show! Navy defeated No. 19 Army 31-13 on Saturday in the classic Army-Navy rivalry game in Landover, Maryland. The quarterback threw for 311 yards and four touchdowns, propelling the Midshipmen to their first Commander-In-Chief's Trophy victory since 2019.
Horvath threw for 107 yards and two touchdowns and rushed for 204 yards and two more scores. Navy (9-3) dominated early, taking a 14-0 lead in the second quarter and never losing control. Army (11-2), coming off their first-ever American Athletic Conference championship, struggled to match Navy's momentum, with quarterback Bryson Daily throwing three interceptions.
Horvath scored on a 1-yard run after a 65-yard drive to start the game. Navy quickly capitalized on Dashaun Peele's interception, with Horvath connecting with Brandon Chatman for an 18-yard touchdown. Army responded with a 23-yard touchdown pass from Daily to Hayden Reed, but still trailed 14-10 at halftime.
The critical moment came in the third quarter, when Horvath fired a 52-yard touchdown pass to Eli Heidenreich, tying both players' school records. Army had to settle for a field goal after a missed end-zone opportunity, and Horvath's second running touchdown came on a Navy fake punt run by Landon Robinson.
With the victory, Navy completed a season sweep of the Air Force and Army. The Midshipmen also received their first Top 25 position since 2019, while the Army may drop out of the polls.
Both teams will now focus on bowl games later this month, with Army taking on Louisiana Tech in the Independence Bowl and Navy facing Oklahoma in the Armed Forces Bowl.
