Sgt. Sarah Roque was killed at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, and Army prosecutors have accused Spc. Wooster Rancy, who is 21 years old, with murder and obstruction of justice associated with her death. Earlier today, officials from Fort Leonard Wood announced that Rancy is currently being kept in pretrial confinement and is awaiting a preliminary hearing; however, there has been no date set for the hearing.

After failing to show up for morning formation on October 21, Roque, a 23-year-old mine detection dog handler and member of the K9 Detachment of the 5th Engineer Battalion, was reported missing. In the later hours of that day, the military police issued a missing person alert for her since her family and members of her unit had been unsuccessful in their attempts to contact her.

In the course of the investigation, the authorities found Roque's body that evening in a dumpster that was located close to the dwelling that was located on the base. Following the events that transpired, Rancy, who was also assigned to the 5th Engineer Battalion, was subsequently charged with murder and obstruction of justice per Articles 118 and 131b of the Uniform Code of Military Justice.

According to Army officials, no information has been disclosed regarding the nature of the relationship between Roque and Rancy or the events that led up to her passing.
