In a recent memo, Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. David Allvin emphasized the service's ongoing endeavors to reorganize to address airmen. The message, distributed on Tuesday, is timely because a presidential election is less than two weeks away, emphasizing the necessity of maintaining momentum in the presence of potential political changes.

The reorganization plan, announced earlier this year, is designed to introduce new initiatives and streamline command structures. The first such action in decades is the reinstatement of warrant officers, specifically for cyber career sectors, one of the most significant changes. The initial cohort commenced training this month, and the subsequent class will begin in January.

Gen. Allvin also elaborated on elevating numbered air forces to service component commands, which improved direct reporting to the Air Force secretary. The initial command to be elevated was Air Forces Southern, with additional commands, such as Air Forces Cyber, expected to follow.

The Air Force is prioritizing enhancements to quality of life and structural modifications. Allvin observed that the number of staff members at the Child Development Centers on base has increased, and there are plans to consolidate resources to facilitate personnel access to support services for victims.

Allvin expressed confidence in the ongoing reforms, despite the impending election, which could result in leadership changes. He emphasized his conviction that the progress made thus far has the support of Congress and urged airmen to "keep the momentum going," stating, "We have a lot more work ahead of us."
