Early Saturday morning, almost 40 U.S. veterans from all over the country met at the Texas City Dike to start the last part of their Wounded Warrior Project Soldier Ride. The three-day cycling event, which took place in Galveston County and included beautiful routes, was meant to help wounded soldiers get stronger and more confident.
The veterans stayed in the Seabrook area for the program and took on different weekly biking tasks. The last thing they did before going home was a 37-mile ride on Saturday along the river and through Texas City.
One of the Wounded Warrior Project's most famous programs is the Soldier Ride, which uses exercise to help soldiers stay strong and make friends. By going on these rides, service members connect with their military background and meet other warriors who can help them.
As the veterans finished their last trek, they were greeted with cheers and words of support, which showed them how much the community appreciated their service and efforts.
