A jet with 60 passengers and four crew members crashed into an Army helicopter while arriving at Ronald Reagan National Airport near Washington on Wednesday. This led to a quick search-and-rescue operation in the nearby Potomac River.
Officials have not confirmed any injuries or found what caused the crash. All takeoffs and landings at the airport were stopped while police planes and rescue teams searched the river for survivors. Inflatable rescue boats were launched from a spot on the George Washington Parkway, just north of the airport.
President Donald Trump spoke about the event, saying he was fully informed about the terrible accident and offered prayers for those affected, saying, "May God bless their souls."
The Federal Aviation Administration stated that the accident happened around 9 a.m., but more information is unavailable. Emergency crews are still working, and officials ask people to stay away from the area and wait for more information.
