Pfc. Dewayne Arthur Johnson II, a soldier based in Hawaii, has been charged by the U.S. Army in relation to the suspected murder of his pregnant wife, Mischa Johnson, whose body remains missing. Mischa, 19, was last observed on July 31 at her residence on Schofield Barracks, an Army installation located on Oahu, during her sixth month of pregnancy. The Army has since declared her deceased.

U.S. Army Garrison Hawaii has stated that Johnson is facing several charges, which include the murder of his wife, the intentional killing of their unborn child, and obstruction of justice. Furthermore, he faces charges for making false official statements, possessing child sexual abuse images, and producing and distributing such material.

Johnson, a cavalry scout from Frederick, Maryland, joined the Army in 2022 and was assigned to the 25th Infantry Division in 2023. In August, he was taken into custody, and his case is set to move forward in military court, where a judge will establish dates for his arraignment, pretrial hearings, and trial. The Army’s Office of Special Trial Counsel announced that charging documents will be accessible following the arraignment.

The status of whether Johnson has secured a civilian attorney is still uncertain.
