The Army is currently conducting an inquiry into the demise of Sgt. Sarah Roque, a 23-year-old soldier presently stationed at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. Military police issued an alert after Roque failed to attend formation on Monday and was reported AWOL. Regrettably, she was subsequently discovered to be deceased.

Major General Christopher Beck, responsible for the Maneuver Support Center of Excellence and Fort Leonard Wood, expressed his condolences on Tuesday, emphasizing the profound effect of Roque's departure on the community and her service. Beck stated, "Sgt. Roque was a daughter, sister, friend, and soldier who opted to serve our country with courage and honor." He emphasized that her departure has resulted in a "colossal void" within the team.

The Army is currently concentrating on offering assistance and resources to those who have been impacted by Roque's premature demise, acknowledging the emotional toll it has had on her fellow soldiers and the broader community. The objective of the investigation is to determine the circumstances that led to her demise, as officials strive to guarantee the safety and welfare of service members at the base.

The incident has prompted discussions about the resources available to soldiers confronting personal challenges, raising concerns about mental health and support systems within the military.
