Army officials announced that a soldier from the 11th Airborne Division sustained an injury on Monday while participating in a training jump in Hawaii. The incident occurred at the Pōhakuloa Training Area, which is situated in the middle of the Mauna Loa, Mauna Kea, and Hualalai volcanic mountains on the island of Hawaii.

As per a statement released by the Army, "the status of the injured soldier is not available at this time." As part of Exercise Arctic Aloha, hundreds of paratroopers from Hawaii and Alaska-based forces participated in the training. These paratroopers were dropped from Air Force C-17s. Within the United States Army's Pacific region of responsibility, the purpose of the exercise is to improve soldiers' readiness to take decisive action in both tropical and frigid conditions.

In September, at the Army's Joint Readiness Training Center in Louisiana, there was another jump accident that resulted in the death of Pfc. Matthew Perez and the injury of another soldier. This occurrence followed one of those accidents. At first, authorities thought that the parachute had malfunctioned in that particular instance.

An investigation into the most recent disaster has been initiated by officials from the US Army.
