The Army has launched an inquiry into the unfortunate passing of Sgt. Sarah Roque, a 23-year-old soldier based at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. Sgt. Roque was reported missing after she did not attend her formation on Monday, leading military police to issue a missing person alert. She was later found deceased that day.

Maj. Gen. Christopher Beck, the commanding officer of both the Maneuver Support Center of Excellence and Fort Leonard Wood, conveyed deep sadness regarding her passing, characterizing Roque as a committed soldier and a cherished member of her community. “Sgt. Roque was a daughter, sister, friend, and soldier who made the courageous and honorable decision to serve our country,” he stated in a press release. “Her passing has created a significant absence within our team.”

Following this tragedy, Fort Leonard Wood officials are dedicated to offering support and resources to those affected by Roque's death. The community grieves the loss of a soldier who served with pride, as the circumstances surrounding her passing remain under investigation. Additional updates are anticipated as the Army works to reveal the specifics of this regrettable incident. The Army invites anyone impacted by the situation to seek support during this difficult period.
